I’ve been a freelancer since 2017. The decision to start as a freelancer came in a way to be able to spent more time with my family. I had the traditional 8 to 6 office job and as commute was about 1 hour this meant I was away from home so much. Kids are young only once and I felt like I was missing too much from their young lifes.
This decision wasn’t the easiest one as it is financially risk but when I look back I would have done the same all over again.
Being a freelancer means I can do projects I am passionate about. It gives me the freedom to choose my own working hours (most of the time anyway, deadlines are a whole different story 😉 one to which I adhere to). And finally it gives me the opportunity to improve upon my skills and learn other skills wereas when I was working for a boss there was less of these opportunities.
I started with projects in marketing assets and social media engagement. But I wanted a bigger challenge and started to teach myself coding. I have done 4 courses in 3 months and are still learning as this is my passion. This step took me to the next and now I develop websites as well.
On the other side I have also combined my commercial insights and marketing knowledge and thus do work as an engagement manager for one of my customers.
